Welcome to this very special edition of the ChatPRD newsletter. For those of you who are new, welcome! And to those of you who have been here for a while, thank you so much for being here.

With 30,000 PMs, 250k+ docs generated, and great customers from startup to enterprise, we thought ChatPRD deserved a brand new... brand πŸŒ…

In this newsletter we're going to tell you a bit about the rebrand, why it's an important step in ChatPRD's journey, and most importantly - why you should care.

The original girl

I built ChatPRD in late 2023 as an experiment, and I didn't expect it to become a real product. I made as a way to learn more about AI and help me and my team create product documentation faster.

The GPT store had just launched, so I cobbled together my favorite prompts and published the v1 of ChatPRD. Only problem was: I needed an icon.

Of course -- I went straight to midjourney. This is a funny/infuriating part of the story: I couldn't prompt AI to give me a lady Chief Product Officer. It would only return men:

Not to be discouraged, I put my prompt engineering skills to work (for the curious: "illustration of a female ceo at a laptop, lo-fi asthetic, simple illustration, bright pink and white") and eventually generated the ChatPRD we all have come to know and love.

The Evolution of ChatPRD

The early adopters of ChatPRD were individuals who wanted to be on the cutting edge of AI.

As our customer-base grew, so did ChatPRD. We added team functionality, custom templates, integrations, new document types, live editing, projects, integrations, and so much more. Teams started adopting ChatPRD at scale, including some pretty big names.

But for the first year of the company: our brand remained the same. And don't get me wrong, I love the original brand. It's authentic, scrappy and unique - how I always want the product to feel.

It's me.

But it was time to grow up. Or at the very least: glow up.

So we called in the experts.

Working with the best

It was super important that whoever was tasked with evolving the ChatPRD brand had to understand authenticity, fun, and... pink. I have been big fans ofJordan and Evan's work from X, and pinged them wondering if they'd be up for the job.

It all started with sharing ChatPRD values, vibe, and some inspo. Then, they got to work creating hundreds of iterations of icons, logos, color schemes and more. Check out just a small subset of the ideas they worked on for us πŸ‘‡

They were SO fun to work with, and they really listened to us when we said we wanted to keep the original, fun feel--just with a grown up energy. They kept the pink (aka "Sunrise Paradise") and promised to make it a little punk.

The final reveal

The final package is perfect and totally us. We have a revamped logo, new fonts, a new shade of pink, and even some rad illustrations (stickers, anyone?)

Why It Matters

You might be thinking to yourself: but this isn't a new feature that I can use that can improve my workflow, why should I care?

My hope is this: you see this rebrand as my vision the future of ChatPRD, which is much bigger than the little GPT that could.

She's my vision for what the future of AI product management can be: smart, bright, and really fun.

And it's still me.
