Tool Selector
Choose which integrations and MCP connectors are active in each chat session.
Tool Selector
The Tool Selector lets you control exactly which integrations ChatPRD can use during a conversation. You can toggle tools on or off for each chat, so ChatPRD only accesses the data sources you want.
Where to Find It
The Tool Selector is the wrench icon located in the chat input toolbar. It appears next to the message box whenever you start a new chat or continue an existing thread.
When one or more tools are active, a small badge shows the count of enabled tools next to the wrench icon.
How It Works
- Click the wrench icon to open the Tool Selector popover.
- You will see a list of all available connectors and integrations.
- Toggle the switch next to each tool to enable or disable it for this conversation.
- Close the popover and start chatting. ChatPRD will use the enabled tools to find relevant context.
Available Tools
The Tool Selector can include the following tools, depending on which integrations you have connected:
- v0 — Create and edit UI prototypes directly from chat.
- Google Drive — Search your Drive files for context. Requires Google Drive to be connected.
- Granola — Search meeting notes and transcripts from Granola.
- GitHub — Access repos, issues, and pull requests from GitHub.
- Notion — Search pages, databases, and docs in your Notion workspace.
- Linear — Browse issues, projects, and team workload in Linear.
- Atlassian — Search Jira issues and Confluence pages.
Tool Status
Each tool in the selector shows its connection status:
- Connected — The tool is linked and ready to use. Toggle the switch to enable it.
- Not connected — You have not yet authorized this integration. Visit Settings > Integrations to connect it.
Tools that are not connected cannot be toggled on. You will see a "Not connected" label next to them.
Managing Integrations
To connect or disconnect integrations, click Manage integrations at the bottom of the Tool Selector, or go to Settings > Integrations directly.
Tips
- Enable only the tools you need for each conversation to keep responses focused and fast.
- You can change which tools are active at any point during a conversation.
- ChatPRD will proactively search enabled tools when your question relates to data those tools can provide.
- You can also ask ChatPRD to use a specific tool by name, e.g., "check Linear for the sprint status."
